The Whittle School & Studios opening in fall of 2019 will be the first school for the Innovation Age, serving children ages 3 to 18, with the first two campuses in Washington, D.C. and Shenzhen, China opening in Fall 2019. The Whittle School will offer a truly global education across a network of modern, thoughtfully designed campuses around the world; a carefully developed progressive curriculum rooted in interdisciplinary and experiential learning; and an unequaled advising system to provide a personalized education.
The Whittle School & Studios will be located in the former International Telecommunications Satellite (INTELSAT) Organization Headquarters Building is one of the most iconic buildings on Connecticut Avenue. Located on an 11.75-acre site between Tilden and Van Ness Streets, and between Connecticut Avenue and International Drive NW. Opened in phases between 1984 and 1988, the building is one of the more notable modernist buildings in DC. Its architect, John Andrews, was an influential Australian architect who made his name designing dramatic brutalist buildings in Canada.
