UDC Jazz Archives Tour & Live Jazz Dinner at Acacia Food & Wine!
Join us for an evening of Jazz – takes place at 2 locations!
Our night begins with a 45-minute tour of one of Van Ness’ local treasures, the Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives. Join Curator Judith Korey and Jazz Archives Specialist Reuben Jackson for a tour and presentation as we discover the Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives and learn its unique role as important research and resource center in the nation’s capital.
“The Felix E. Grant Collection consists of commercial sound recordings, recordings of the interviews of jazz artists and personalities taped by Mr. Grant during his four decades as a radio broadcaster and recordings of radio shows conducted by Mr. Grant. Other archival materials in the collection include books, periodicals, posters, promotional material, correspondence, radio program logs/playlists, liner notes, lectures, reviews, concert programs, magazine and newspaper articles, awards, commendations, photographs and personal memorabilia.”
After the tour, we’ll take a short walk to Acacia Food & Wine to enjoy a lovely 3-course meal accompanied by a live, local jazz trio.
